Since its launch in 2022, Elden Ring has been enthusiastically sought after by many ARPG players around the world. In 2025, Elden Ring will launch Elden Ring Nightreign, following the excellent performance and popularity of the original game and Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

As the latest work in the series, Nightreign is not exactly a sequel to the original Elden Ring, but a new game with a multiplayer cooperative mode based on some settings – this is the first time that a Souls-like game has this mode.

According to the latest news, the game will be launched on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and PC platforms on May 30. Until then, considering the differences between Nightreign and the original Elden Ring, we will bring you some information that you must know.

Class And Boss Design Based On Roles

Elden Ring Nightreign does not directly choose Druid or Barbarian, which are general ARPG classes that can be directly designed into the game. Instead, it takes Nightfarers as the core and designs 8 Nightfarers as your optional class. On this basis, the boss is the corresponding 8 Nightlords.

All Nightfarers

Including bosses and characters represented by all playable classes, everyone lives together in Limveld, but Nightlords are the evil rulers here, and Nightfarers are one of the factions.

As a Nightfarer, you are a warrior belonging to Roundtable Hold. You and your companions are selected by a blonde girl and asked to travel and repel Night’s Tide and Night Lord. However, you can only enter the petrified tree and confront the boss after the third night.

The 8 classes are Wylder, Guardian, Duchess, Recluse, Ironeye, Raider, Executor and Revenant. They have different appearances and skills. You can learn more about them according to the relevant trailers.

All Nightlords

The game does not require you to face Nightlords directly at the beginning. You must first gain XP by killing ordinary enemies to help your character level up, and then gradually unlock battles with more elite enemies to earn more precious Elden Ring Nightreign items

In fact, only when equipped with more reliable items can you win against the following Nightlords:

  • Gladius, Beast of Night: Tricephalos
  • Second Nightlord: Gaping Maw
  • Third Nightlord: Sentient Pest
  • Fourth Nightlord: Augur
  • Libra, Creature of Night: Equilibrius Beast
  • Sixth Nightlord: Darkdrift Knightboss
  • Seventh Night Lord: Fissure in the Fog
  • Eighth Night Lord: To be determined

There is no doubt that these ultimate bosses are very dangerous, but defeating them will not only bring a lot of Elden Ring Nightreign runes, but may also provide you with special buffs or weapons as rewards-the risk is worth it.

Unique Mechanics

Although you will see a lot of traces of the original game in Elden Ring Nightreign’s mechanics, it is more of a unique development based on Elden Ring and its DLC.

Cyclic Combat

Unlike the original game or other traditional ARPGs’ plot exploration + endgame mode, in Nightreign you need to survive three days and three nights in Limveld as a single player or a group of three to encounter and defeat Nightlords.

During these three days, as time passes, the explorable area will gradually fall into darkness to limit your range of action until the final boss battle is unlocked. You need to repeat this process until you can defeat all Nightlords.

Always Changing Map

In order to prepare for the boss battle, you will definitely explore every corner of Limveld before that, triggering as many random quests or small boss battles as possible, in order to complete XP, runes and gear farming, and collect information for your own use.

Based on Nightreign’s special “three-day cycle” mechanism, every time you complete a cycle of battles, the explorable map in Nightreign will change randomly. This can avoid the disadvantage of regular exploration becoming boring and make the game more challenging.

Possible Natural Disasters

In addition to the enemies that may appear at any time, just like in Elden Ring, you may encounter natural disasters such as meteor impacts or volcanic eruptions while exploring the map – they are not just landscape settings, they will really threaten your character’s life!

Rogue-Like Aspects

Although Elden Ring Nightreign brings a three-person cooperative mechanism, the actual battle is still based on the rogue-like style: clear the level – get items – enhance yourself – keep moving forward. It is expected that the types of items you can get in the game are very rich and can fully meet your combat needs.

Roundtable Hold – Base

After completing the battle, you can return to Roundtable Hold to rest and set off again. And here you can adjust and arrange different aspects of the character through different NPCs or fixed mechanisms, or change the appearance of the character.

Notes On Gameplay

In addition to the changes in combat mechanics and gameplay, some system settings in Elden Ring Nightreign are also different from the original.

First, since a cycle is about 40 minutes, the time is too short, so the message system is simply cancelled; second, Nightreign does not support cross-platform play, and is limited to cross-generation play between devices of the same series such as PS4 and PS5.

So if you want to play with your friends, you must have devices from the same series. In addition, although the game’s team limit is three people, the friend team is limited to two-player mode-the third teammate must be another single player. However, this feature may be updated later.

I hope the above information will be helpful for you to start experiencing Elden Ring Nightreign when the time comes. I wish you an exciting journey to Limveld!
